The 10th Meeting of the Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Research Evaluation, Awards, and Directions for Future Activities

On 20 October 2025, the 10th meeting of the Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences was held online, with the participation of 24 members. The proceedings addressed, among other issues, key questions related to the planned changes in the system for evaluating scholarly activity for the years 2026–2030, including the transition to a five-year assessment cycle, the strengthening of expert-based evaluation, and the growing importance of social impact and scholarly communication in the assessment of research output.

A significant point of the meeting was the resolution of the competition for the Committee’s Scientific Award. After reviewing the report of the Award Committee and conducting unanimous votes, the Committee granted awards in the categories of Best Scholarly Article and Best Monograph, thereby emphasizing the importance of research addressing current issues of communication, media, and the public sphere.
