The 9th Meeting of the Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Featuring a Discussion of the New Monograph “DZIENNIK(AI)RSTWO” by Prof. Jan Kreft

On 28 April 2025, a meeting of the Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences was held online, with the participation of Committee members, experts, and an invited guest. The central point of the meeting was the presentation of the latest monograph by Prof. Jan Kreft, PhD, DSc, of Gdańsk University of Technology, entitled “DZIENNIK(AI)RSTWO. How Artificial Intelligence Is Changing the Most Fascinating Profession in the World”. The meeting provided an opportunity for a lively discussion on the future of journalism in the era of rapid development of AI technologies.

In his presentation, the author emphasized the transformational rather than crisis-driven nature of the changes taking place in journalism, highlighting the growing role of algorithms in editorial processes and the challenges related to the credibility of AI-generated content. The discussion focused, among other issues, on the future of the journalistic profession, media education, declining trust in the media, and the need to redefine quality journalism under conditions of automation and the increasing technologization of media practices.
