The 18th “Media Ethics” Conference in Kraków: A Session Dedicated to the Memory of Rev. Prof. Michał Drożdż

The 18th academic conference in the “Media Ethics” series was held on 22–23 May 2024 in Kraków. One of the most significant moments of the event was a session dedicated to the memory of the late Rev. Prof. Michał Drożdż, PhD, DSc, a member of the Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in its previous term, and an outstanding scholar and authority in the field of media ethics.

The commemorative session was chaired by the Chair of the Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Iwona Hofman, together with members of the Committee and representatives of the academic community. The meeting had both a reflective and scholarly character, providing an opportunity to recall the academic achievements of Rev. Prof. Michał Drożdż and to emphasize his importance for the development of research on social communication, media studies, and journalistic ethics.

The conference was organized by the Institute of Journalism, Media, and Social Communication at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. The event confirmed the enduring place of media ethics within academic reflection and highlighted the importance of preserving the memory of scholars who have contributed to shaping the identity and achievements of the discipline.
